Material Estimation Terms

Last updated: October 17, 2026

The Estimator in the Build It Yourself app gives you a baseline count of construction materials for budgeting and shopping. Please read these terms before you rely on any estimate or add materials to your cart.

1. What the Estimator is

The Estimator is a shopping and budgeting tool. It works out standard, volume-based quantities for materials such as cement, sand, gravel, hollow blocks, plaster and tile adhesive from the sizes you enter. You can see every table and formula it uses on our How we estimate page.

2. What it is not

  • It is not structural engineering, architectural design, or a construction blueprint.
  • It does not create a professional-client relationship between you and Build It Yourself, or with anyone who prepared the formulas.
  • It does not replace the plans, schedules and specifications of your licensed civil engineer or architect.

3. Verify before you buy or build

Soil conditions, seismic zones, wind loads and local building codes vary across the Philippines. Before you purchase materials or begin construction, confirm all final quantities, mixes, steel schedules and specifications with your licensed civil engineer or architect, and obtain the permits your project requires.

4. About the numbers

  • Estimates are not rounded inside a calculation. The app shows a rounded-up quantity to buy, but real needs vary with site conditions, workmanship and waste.
  • The mixture class shown first for a part is a starting choice, not a recommendation. Choose the class your engineer specifies.
  • Product availability, sizes and prices come from our store and can change.

5. Limits of our responsibility

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Build It Yourself is not responsible for losses that result from relying on an estimate, including material shortages or excess, or for work that does not meet structural, safety, permit or zoning requirements. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under Philippine consumer protection law that cannot be waived.

6. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms and the numbers behind the Estimator. When the terms change, the app may ask you to agree again.

7. Questions
